The Best Birthday
I'm 41 (YUCK!), why do I still feel 20? Anyway, I'm uncertain as to how many more years I will enjoy such wonderful gifts from Sam. He's 10 and soon, unfortunately, he will probably be too cool to leave notes like this for his Mom. How blessed am I, to have such a great little family!?!?

The "LOBSTER" of fruit!
Pomello..I love it. But, it's a lot of work getting into the good part. It's just like any shell fish. You have to work for the prize. Luckily, Marilyn grew up with pomellos in the Philippines and she knows how to get into these babies. One the best parts of my day is when we get home from school and Marilyn has a peeled pomello waiting for Cairo and me to share while we do homework together.

HALLOWEEN, it's not just for kids!
OK, SO IT'S KIND OF CLICHE' But, hey, we won the couple costume contest!
Dr. Hotpants and I went to a party last night dressed as...You can see from the photo..
We had a great time and as we drove home talked about how fortunate we are to live in an exciting place with exciting friends from all over the world. Yoka and Louis were the hosts of the bash and they really know how to throw a party. Louis is always the DJ and they have a special room dedicated to dancing. He played Michael Jackson's Thriller, complete with the video. That took me back to the 80's!
Yoka dressed as Sarah Palan, complete with a polar bear in her conservative cleavage. Michael and Becky Harrington were Austin Powers and Facility..There were so many great costumes and it truly was a United Nations experience as most of our daily experiences are here.

A Visit from Family...Need I Say More??
The following is just a sampling of the 1200 photos taken while we toured this region with Cory, Angie and family, Ben, Michelle and 3 of their 4 kiddos and Mom and Pop Cook.
IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING, we had a fabulous time. It is always rewarding to share our part of the world with loved ones from home but to have all those cousins here running around our home in Abu Dhabi was truly a dream come true!
The time went too quickly...we never slowed down...and we didn't have time to see and do everything we wished for. Ultimately, we made memories, shared laughs and watched the cousins experience parts of the world together that many people will never get to see.
We are forever grateful to Brad's parents for making the entire thing possible by offering to fund the flights for the families. There is no greater gift than that of time together with those we love.
The background music is our theme song.."Today the Sun's On Us". This is quite fitting since we never see clouds here but more so because Brad and I feel that we are truly being "shined" upon. We lead a life of great happiness and joy and clouds rarely come our way. We never have to look far to see others who are in need and suffering and we have so much. Our love for each other and our family grows stronger all the time and we have a comfortable home and all the things we need. On top of all that we have this opportunity to live in a unique situation and watch our children learn and grow in an environment that is shaping their future in a special way. Today the Sun's On Us...It may not be for everyday in the future, but for now..we are loving it!

One of our favorite things to do in Cairo is to walk around the city at night. One night we went out for a stroll and bought some fresh fruit from this corner stand.

Dr. Hotpants just turned 44 yesterday! Yes, 44 and looking better than ever. I think he just gets better with every year.
