Halloween Spooks

Happy Halloween

Fall finally "fell" on Abu Dhabi today. What a pleasant surprise to wake up to a dry 80 degrees. It actually felt cool outside! It has given me a new, fresh reason to smile, open the sun-roof and....enjoy the pool.
Halloween brings......
Jack and Charlie trading costumes three times before they left the house this morning at 7:30.
Sam and Cairo home for today and tomorrow due to parent teacher conferences.
We will be TRICK-OR-TREATING tonight (with Jacqui) in our compound. It feels nice to have holidays like this be a bit simpler than at home. Only 30 units in our compound which is secure and the kids can just run from house to house again and again and again.
I do miss the crisp air, football, and the different feeling in the air that fall brings on the Wasatch Front. But, since I can't be there, I'm just enjoying being here with 4 beautiful, healthy kids...One great 18 year old friend from home and my hot husband..Brad.
Happy Halloween

Desert Safari with Jacqui and Romesburgs

I took this video while we were dune bashing. Judy was so funny..I had to share it.
One of our favorite things to do with guests is to take them to the desert for dune bashing, camel rides and dinner. On this night we took Sam with us because his friend was going with his family on the same night. Sam had a great time 4-wheeling with Brad, playing in the sand and riding the snowboard down the dunes.

Brad, Kerry and Amir..our favorite guide for desert safaris.

Fun at the Camel Racetrack

This is a robot jockey on the back of the camel. The little robots even had visors on to shield their eyes (not) from the sun!

Kerry and Judy at the racetrack.
These animals can really move fast when they want to!

Me with Mike Benson at the camel track.
Brad at Emirates Palace

With Romesburgs

Kerry and Mike with Sheik Nahyan (Brad's Boss)
Mike Benson, Romesburgs and Brad with the Student Council from Brad's College.

On their first day here we were able to take Mike, Kerry and Judy golfing at the Abu Dhabi Country Club. This is where the Pros play in January.

Festival of Thinkers 2007

This event happens every other year in Abu Dhabi. 100 "thinkers" from all over the world gathered at the Emirates Palace Hotel to meet and discuss various issues. Nobel Prize winners were abundant. Brad's friends and collegues Mike Benson and Kerry Romesburg were among those selected to be thinkers this year. What a great time we have had showing them around Abu Dhabi and attending events with them at the Palace.

Brad and Mike at the Opening Gala for the event.

Fun at the Palace...While the thinkers were hard at work!

We even got a camel ride on the beach!

While the guys were busy thinking we had a great time with Judy having lunch poolside and playing the afternoon away at the Emirates Palace.

Judy Romesburg "thinking" poolside at the Emirates Palace..Now that's THINKING!

Jacqui and the boys having fun on the "lazy river".

Charlie getting warm on the ground by the pool.

The boys didn't even slow down long enough to smile for photos! They were having so much fun running to the top of the slide and shooting down. The slide would spit them out just like little torpedoes!

Visiting Sargon in Dubai

The Eid holiday break was so eventful. We were able go to Dubai to pick up our friend Jacqui Shields who is here to visit until December. Then we stayed the next two nights at Sargon's place in Dubai.
Sargon flew in from Kabul on the second evening. Everyone knows...it's always fun to hang out with Uncle Sargon. He was so fun and hospitable. We all had a great time. Thanks Sargon!!!

After counting down the days...Jacqui finally arrived from Provo. All of us are so happy to have her here to show her our second home. She is like an older sister to all the kids and I don't even have time to finish my dinner before she's up and cleaning the kitchen..What a sweetheart. We are going to have soooo much fun!
