Happy Birthday Dad!

Today, March 26th is my Dad's birthday..This is my Dad:
When I was a kid Dad used to spend his free time building radio control airplanes in a spare room downstairs.  We called it "Dad's Airplane Room".  I'm sure he was the first civilian to use SuperGlue.  We called "hotglue" at the time.  Whenever something broke it could be mended in Dad's Airplane room using his hotglue.   Trend-setter that he is...Now the entire world is using Super Glue.  One day the need arose to change Dad's airplane room into a bedroom for my brother Dave.  Mom had the plans drawn up and construction began.  I'm not sure if it was this remodel that sparked the desire for bigger planes or if it was the excuse.  But now Dad has a hanger at an airport and builds big, real- life planes that he pilots and flies around in!  He makes an annual flight to OshKosh Wis. to camp out with other flying aces under the wings of his plane.  He has a friend, Phil, who also builds planes and is partially responsible for the step beyond R/C.  When he isn't flying or building planes he can be found at the Logan Golf and Country Club walking the course with his buddies.  He has inspired me to find hobbies that are fulfilling and rewarding.  He loves to cook and tell a good joke.  He and Mom go hiking and take trips with Dave and Marilyn and Tim and Carroll.  He does the crossword puzzle from the newspaper everyday.  He loves to sail his boat on Bear Lake with Dave in sailing races on summer Saturdays.  He is always listening to a book on tape and hard-cover books can always be found on the night stand by his bed. . When I was in my first year at Utah State I decided to dye part of my hair bright pink.  Most parents would have freaked out.  I remember Dad telling me he liked it and showing it to his friends. Oh, and he is a real estate broker. He does have a day job. (I think).  Love you Dad!  Happy Birthday from T, B and the Abu Dhabi Grandkids!  We will celebrate next week in Egypt!

Peaceful Easter Sunday

To the unknowing eye, the compound appears normal. It's Easter Sunday, no school for the kids but Brad has to work. However, we were warned a few days before that there would be no electricity from 8am to 4pm. So, this is what the Fortress looks like with no power:
No computer, no TV....Kids had to read and play and swim and ride bikes...Wow.
